Phasmophobia Weekly Challenge: Mastering the Primitive Challenge

Author : Daniel Sep 18,2025

It might feel like we’ve been thrust back into the Stone Age during Phasmophobia’s Primitive weekly challenge—but unlike our ancient ancestors, we’ve got a ghost on our hands. This time, you’ll need to identify the haunting spirit without relying on any electronic equipment. No flashlights, no cameras, no EMF readers—just pure instinct, sharp observation, and a deep understanding of ghost behaviors.

The Primitive Challenge is one of the most demanding weekly tasks in Phasmophobia. As the name suggests, you must complete the investigation and correctly identify the ghost type without using any electronic devices. That means no reliance on standard tools for gathering evidence or navigating the map.

You’ll be assigned to 10 Ridgeview Court—a smaller, house-style map with a relatively straightforward layout, making it easier to find cover and react during hunts. Keep in mind that, like all weekly challenges, you must successfully complete three qualifying investigations to fully complete the challenge.

This challenge strips away nearly all electronic equipment. Gone are your flashlights, DOTs Projectors, Video Cameras, and even Sanity Medication. However, you do start with full Sanity, giving you a temporary buffer against the ghost’s draining effects.

Your provided loadout includes:

  • Two Tier 1 Crucifixes – Can prevent two ghost hunts if placed correctly near the ghost room.
  • Tier 2 Firelights – Useful for lighting up dark areas without electronics.
  • Full set of Tier 1 Incense – Can be burned to stop a hunt in progress if you’re near the ghost.
  • Two Tier 3 Ghost Writing Books – Key for gathering one of the core evidence types.
  • Two Tier 1 UV “Glowsticks” – Serve dual purposes as light sources and UV tools for detecting fingerprints.
  • Two Tier 1 Thermometers – Essential for identifying freezing temperatures, another key evidence type.

With such limited tools, success hinges on understanding ghost behavior. Each ghost in Phasmophobia exhibits unique patterns—some are more aggressive in the dark, others interact with specific objects more frequently. Use these clues to narrow down your suspect, even without electronic confirmation.

Locating the Ghost Quickly

Since you can’t restore power (no fuse box access), darkness will steadily drain your sanity. Your top priority should be locating the ghost room early. The ghost in this challenge has increased activity, making it easier to spot through interactions like object throws, ghost writing, or cold spots.

Using the Ouija Board

You’re given access to one Cursed Object: the Ouija Board, found in the laundry room on the first floor (left of the dining area). Use it to ask, “What is your favorite room?”—the ghost will spell out the answer.

⚠️ Warning: This action drains 50% of your current sanity. Always end the session by saying “Goodbye” to avoid a Cursed Hunt. This tactic is especially useful in multiplayer, where team coordination can mitigate the risks.
