Persona 4 Golden: How To Beat Magical Magus

Conquering Yukiko's Castle: Strategies for the Magical Magus in Persona 4 Golden

Yukiko's Castle, the first major dungeon in Persona 4 Golden, presents a gradual difficulty curve. While early floors are manageable, later encounters introduce the formidable Magical Magus, a randomly appearing enemy. This guide details its weaknesses and provides strategies for an easy victory.

Magical Magus: Weaknesses, Strengths, and Skills

The Magical Magus's elemental affinities are as follows:

Null Strong Weak
Fire Wind Light

The Magical Magus primarily utilizes fire-based attacks, making fire resistance crucial. Acquire fire-resistant accessories from golden chests within Yukiko's Castle; these are beneficial for both the Magical Magus and the final boss.

Be wary of its powerful attacks:

  • Agilao: A potent fire-based spell that hits hard. Guard on the turn before you anticipate it.
  • Hysterical Slap: A dual-hit physical attack, less damaging than Agilao.

Given the protagonist's early access to light skills, it's advisable to have Chie and Yosuke guard while the protagonist utilizes light-based attacks.

Early-Game Persona with Light Skills: Archangel

Archangel, a level 11 Persona, is your best bet for early-game light-based attacks. It naturally possesses Hama (an instant-kill attack against light weaknesses) and learns Media (healing) at level 12, both valuable for this fight and the final boss. It can be fused using:

  • Slime (Level 2)
  • Forneus (Level 6)

Hama's instant-kill nature makes the Magical Magus a surprisingly easy target. Its high success rate ensures quick victories, making the otherwise challenging Magus a valuable source of experience and items, provided you have sufficient SP recovery items.

This strategy allows for efficient farming of the Magical Magus before tackling the final boss, maximizing your party's strength and preparedness.
