Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters throughout the main campaign. These encounters provide permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, offers a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide explains how to locate and activate this crucial advantage.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine at each location grants +10% Lightning Resistance. Its understated icon on the world map makes it easy to overlook.
Due to PoE 2's procedurally generated maps, the Sisters' exact location within the Spires of Deshar varies. However, it's always present on this map. Thoroughly explore the area until you find a shrine resembling the image above. Interact with it to receive the buff. Be prepared for a fight; activating the shrine triggers nearby automatons to attack. In fact, this action animates all automatons on the map.
A helpful tip: if you reach a checkpoint near the exit before finding the Sisters, fast travel back to that checkpoint for easier access to the shrine.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's automatically applied upon activation.
Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan appear in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activate the shrine in both locations to gain a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Isn't Showing
Many players find it confusing that despite activating the buff, their resistance values may still appear negative. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected).
Therefore, after completing Act 1 and activating the Sisters in Act 2, your net Lightning Resistance will be zero (the buff cancels the debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, activating the Sisters will improve your Lightning Resistance from -40% to -30%.
To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment in the endgame and check your resistances. A -40% elemental resistance indicates that you have successfully acquired all available campaign buffs.
