Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide
Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiating Ritual events, key mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.
Identifying and Initiating Rituals
On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a red pentagram icon featuring a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.
Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat waves, life-draining blood pools). Interact with an Altar to initiate a wave of enemies. Remain within the designated circle; leaving it prematurely ends the event and forfeits rewards. Complete all Rituals on a map to mark it as "Complete."
The King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss
'An Audience With The King,' a unique Ritual currency, unlocks access to The Crux Of Nothingness and the King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss fight. Slot this currency into your Realmgate on the Atlas. The King in the Mists' mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart (found in Act 1, Cruel difficulty, Freythorn zone). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.
Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree (accessed via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree, bottom-right), enhances Rituals. Nodes offer benefits like reduced Tribute requirements, improved rewards, and increased unique currency drop chances. Increasing boss difficulty is required to unlock new Notable nodes; defeating the King in the Mists rewards the necessary skill points.
Notable Nodes and Prioritization:
Notable Node | Effect | Requirements |
---|---|---|
Promised Devotion | 25% increased Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute, 50% faster Favour appearance. | N/A |
From The Mists | 2 extra enemy packs. | N/A |
Reinvigorated Sacrifices | Revived monsters gain Toughness and damage, but no longer penalize Tribute. | From The Mists |
Spreading Darkness | Always 4 Ritual Altars. | N/A |
Between Two Worlds | Always includes a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute). | Spreading Darkness |
Ominous Portents | 25% faster monster waves, 50% increased Omen chance in Favours. | N/A |
He Approaches | 20% chance for revived monsters to be Magic/Rare; 50% chance for 'An Audience With The King'. | Ominous Portents |
Tempting Offers | Extra Favour re-roll; 25% less Tribute for re-rolls. | N/A |
Prioritize 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' first, then 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches.'
Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours
Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency used to purchase randomized Favour items. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock higher-tier rewards (Rare gear, high-tier Currencies). 'An Audience With The King' is only obtainable via Favours.
Omen Currencies: Powerful Omen items can significantly enhance other Currency items. They are consumed upon use and highly sought after for crafting. Consider trading them if unsure of their application. Regular high-tier Currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.) also drop from Ritual enemies. The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
