Palworld’s massive v0.5.0 update introduces cross-platform play, a game-changer for players across all platforms. This update also significantly enhances Pal management with the Global Palbox, a revolutionary storage system offering ten times the capacity of the standard Palbox. Guild members gain access, and it functions as private storage with customizable settings, enabling seamless Pal transfers between worlds.
Beyond Pal management, v0.5.0 boasts a wealth of new features. Customize your character's look with the new cosmetic armor system (transmog), capturing memories with the photo mode, upgrading blueprints via the drafting table, and enjoying improved stability with dedicated servers for Mac users. PlayStation 5 dedicated servers are also planned for a future release.
Since its January 2024 early access launch, Palworld has captivated 32 million players. Pocketpair has unveiled a comprehensive 2025 content roadmap, promising an “ending scenario” and more exciting content for this wildly popular creature-catching survival game. Initially launched on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Xbox and PC Game Pass, Palworld shattered sales and concurrent player records. The game's success was so significant that Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe stated the studio was overwhelmed by the massive profits. This led to swift action, including a partnership with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, dedicated to expanding the IP and bringing the game to PS5.
However, Palworld faces a legal challenge. A lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company alleges patent infringement, seeking an injunction and damages. Pocketpair has responded, clarifying the patents in question and making adjustments to Pal summoning mechanics. The studio remains resolute, stating, “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.”
