Overwatch 2 Unveils Unique In-Game Events for Chinese Players

Overwatch 2's triumphant return to China on February 19th brings a wealth of rewards and exciting events for players. This relaunch includes access to previously missed content from Seasons 1-9, offering a chance to catch up on Battle Pass rewards and participate in popular in-game events.

The highly anticipated Season 15 will feature a captivating theme: skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While specifics remain under wraps, the prospect of new or existing skins, and whether they'll be China-exclusive, adds to the excitement. This could potentially mark a larger, overarching Chinese mythology theme for the season, echoing the Norse mythology focus of Season 14.

A recent technical test (January 8-15) provided a sneak peek at the upcoming content, including Overwatch: Classic and the six heroes released since the game's previous unavailability in China. Following the test, Overwatch 2 Game Director Aaron Keller confirmed a multi-week celebratory event on Xiaohongshu (RedNote), promising a return to many beloved in-game events and rewards. Players will be able to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1-2 before the official relaunch, with Seasons 3-9 rewards obtainable through post-launch in-game events.

The anticipation builds as Season 15's launch date (February 18th) draws near. More details about the season, including a full reveal, are expected in early February. In the meantime, players globally can enjoy the "Min 1, Max 3" 6v6 test (January 21st-February 4th), featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also planned before Season 15. While Chinese players missed these earlier events, they can eagerly await their own unique celebrations.
