Osmos, the acclaimed cell-absorbing puzzle game, returns to Android! Previously removed due to playability issues stemming from outdated technology, developer Hemisphere Games has resurrected it with a completely revamped port.
For those unfamiliar, Osmos is a unique, award-winning physics-based puzzle where you absorb smaller organisms while avoiding becoming prey. Its simple yet engaging gameplay made it a hit, but Android users faced a long hiatus until this new release.
Now, years after its 2010 debut, Osmos is available on Google Play, optimized for modern Android systems. Hemisphere Games explains in a blog post that the original Android version, developed with Apportable, became difficult to update after Apportable's closure. This led to its removal from the store due to incompatibility with current 64-bit Android devices. The new version, however, is a ground-up rebuild.

Osmos feels like a nostalgic gem, well worth revisiting. It evokes a time when mobile gaming seemed limitless – a feeling many hope to recapture.
