Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi
Capcom has treated fans to a fresh look at its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release. The new gameplay trailer, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, reveals the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as the game's protagonist.
The trailer highlights the game's dynamic sword combat and impressive boss encounters. While still over a year away, the visuals and action sequences are already generating significant buzz.
The game features Musashi, renowned for his unparalleled swordsmanship, but also showcases a more playful and humorous side to his personality.
Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most iconic historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's in-game appearance is reportedly modeled after the legendary Toshiro Mifune, known for his memorable portrayal of Musashi in numerous samurai films.
The game's setting is a demon-infested Kyoto, overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning hellish creatures into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
