Nishino Takes Helm as Sony Interactive CEO, Totoki Rises to Sony CEO

In a significant leadership shift, Hideaki Nishino has been named the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement was made official through a press release issued this evening, marking a new chapter in Sony’s evolving executive structure.

The same release confirmed that Hiroki Totoki, currently serving as Sony’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), will be promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sony Corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida. Yoshida, who has led Sony since April 2018, took over from former CEO Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, is set to assume the role of CFO for the entire corporation.

This change in leadership follows last year’s decision to divide SIE’s leadership between Nishino and Hermen Hulst after the retirement of former CEO Jim Ryan. At that time, Hulst was appointed head of PlayStation Studios while Nishino took charge of hardware and technology divisions. With this latest development, Nishino now assumes full responsibility for all of SIE and will also lead the Platform Business Group. Hulst will continue his role overseeing PlayStation Studios exclusively.

Nishino, a long-time Sony veteran with over two decades of service since joining in 2000, previously held the position of Senior Vice President of the Platform Experience Group. He expressed his enthusiasm about stepping into the top role:

"I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation."

"I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support, and I am very excited for what the future holds."
