During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo announced that nearly its entire library of Nintendo Switch games will be compatible with the new console. However, certain titles are receiving enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, complete with unique features. These lucky games include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.

Each Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game boasts different enhancements. The showcase kicked off with Super Mario Party: Jamboree, which introduces "Jamboree TV," a feature that enhances gameplay with mouse controls, audio recognition, more expressive rumble, and new camera accessory-based gameplay.

Next up were The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which are getting upgraded with enhanced resolution, higher framerates, and HDR support. These games will also benefit from a new feature on the Nintendo Switch Online app called "Zelda Notes," offering voice guidance to locate Shrines and Koroks, and the ability to share creations in Tears of the Kingdom via QR code with friends.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to receive a new story exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 titled "Star-Crossed World," alongside improved graphics and framerates.

New titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A are also getting enhanced versions. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support mouse controls, 4K resolution at 60fps, and HDR, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature better resolution and framerates.

These upgraded editions will be available in both physical and digital formats. Additionally, upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby will be available for those who already own the original versions on the Nintendo Switch.

The buzz about "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" games started last week when a webpage hinted at these upgrades in a footnote about the new Virtual Game Card system, stating that these games cannot be transferred to the original Nintendo Switch via Virtual Game Card.
