Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Games Revealed with $10 Zelda Upgrades

One day after the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, let’s see which games are selling best on the new console’s eShop—and gauge how well those relatively minimal Zelda upgrades are performing.

Unsurprisingly, Mario Kart World tops the Switch 2 eShop charts at the moment, serving as the console's flagship launch title that many—if not most—new owners have purchased alongside the hardware.

Its top position comes as no shock. Anyone who bought a Switch 2 bundle that included Mario Kart World would have redeemed an eShop code, triggering a digital download and contributing to its chart placement.

Coming in second—and perhaps more surprisingly—is Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. Developer CD Projekt is undoubtedly thrilled to see its acclaimed RPG resonating with Switch 2 players after skipping the previous Nintendo console. Now that the hardware can handle Night City, Switch 2 owners appear eager to dive into this expansive open-world experience. Earlier this week, IGN spoke with CD Projekt to uncover how the studio brought Cyberpunk 2077 to Switch 2.

In third place is Nintendo's Switch 2 Welcome Tour. This $10 collection of mini-games and tech demos has stirred some debate among fans, many of whom feel it should have been free—and after spending an hour with it myself, I’m inclined to agree. Part interactive manual, part digital museum, Welcome Tour is at least reasonably priced. (Note: To access all included content, you’ll need a camera and a separate controller or grip with GL/GR buttons.)

Fourth on the Switch 2 eShop sales chart is Fast Fusion, a title that may not be widely known. This high-speed sci-fi racer stands out in the console’s early lineup, especially since developer Shin'en Multimedia previously launched Fast RMX alongside the original Switch in March 2017. So, why does this series appeal to Nintendo loyalists? In essence, it’s the closest thing to F-Zero available—and as Nintendo has yet to announce a new F-Zero, enthusiasts have embraced it.

The fifth best-selling eShop item isn’t a full game, but an upgrade—specifically, the $10 enhancement for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It’s intriguing to see it rank so high, especially since Nintendo Switch Online subscribers already receive this upgrade as part of their plan. Perhaps fans want to own it permanently, or maybe they haven’t realized it’s included. Either way, its strong performance suggests Nintendo was right to assume players would pay for better visuals (which other titles like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet provided for free), plus access to a new companion app.

Deltarune takes sixth place, having just released its newest chapters this week. Seventh is the $10 enhancement for Zelda: Breath of the Wild—as an older title, fewer players may still be active here compared to Tears of the Kingdom.

Eighth on the chart is the calming RPG Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, while ninth belongs to Square Enix’s Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster. Rounding out the top ten are Yakuza 0 and Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition.

After those, the full Switch 2 Editions of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild flank Hitman World of Assassination. Wrapping up the list is Hogwarts Legacy, whose Switch 2 release includes several graphical improvements. A $10 upgrade is also available for those who previously owned the Harry Potter prequel RPG on the original Switch.
