The long-awaited details about Nintendo's next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been unveiled, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. The new system supports up to 120fps and can deliver stunning 4K resolution when docked, promising a significant leap in gaming performance.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. With approximately double the pixels, it supports a crisp 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD with HDR support, and when docked, it can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a magnetic connection and can be detached using a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing playability in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks have also been upsized. Additionally, this segment officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for various viewing angles. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.

Lastly, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
