Yes, you read the headline correctly! Nintendo has announced the end-of-service (EOS) for the beloved mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and the news has left players stunned. Despite its ongoing popularity, the game is set to close its virtual doors. Let's delve into the details!
When Are They Shutting Down Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp?
Mark your calendars for November 28th, 2024, as this is the date when the online services for Pocket Camp will officially end. If you're still enjoying your cozy campsite, now is the time to cherish these final moments. Interestingly, the game will celebrate its seventh anniversary just a week before its EOS on November 21st.
This means no more acquiring Leaf Tickets and no more renewals for the Pocket Camp Club. As of October 28th, 2024, auto-renewals for the Pocket Camp Club will cease. If your membership is still active after this date, you won't receive a refund, but you'll be awarded a special badge in your in-game mailbox.
Make sure to grab those Leaf Tickets before November 26th, as it will be your last chance. The final farewell to the online community will occur on November 28th at 7:00 AM PST.
It’s Not A Complete Farewell!
Here’s a silver lining: Nintendo is set to release a paid offline version of the game. While this version won’t include features like Market Boxes, gifts, or the ability to visit friends’ campsites, you'll still enjoy the core gameplay experience.
You'll be able to retain all your saved data and continue playing without an internet connection. Look out for more details on this new paid version starting in October 2024.
Nintendo has been gradually phasing out its mobile games, with titles like Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost already discontinued, and Mario Kart Tour placed in maintenance mode. Therefore, the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp might not be as surprising to some.
If you wish to enjoy the remaining time with Pocket Camp, you can download it from the Google Play Store. And don't forget to check out our next feature on Monument Valley 3 by Netflix.
