Get ready for another round of fatalities! A first look at Karl Urban as Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 has been revealed.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon unveiled a poster featuring Urban, styled as a mock Johnny Cage film, complete with over-the-top action imagery (think flaming motorcycles!).
This sequel directly follows the 2021 reboot, starring Lewis Tan, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Joe Taslim. Joining the cast are Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.
While plot details remain under wraps, the vast Mortal Kombat video game lore provides ample source material. The first film focused on Cole Young's introduction to the Mortal Kombat tournament and the rivalry between Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
Initially planned for a theatrical release, the first Mortal Kombat film premiered on HBO Max due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mortal Kombat 2, however, is slated for a theatrical debut on October 24, 2025.
