Everything We Know About Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta
The open beta offers three key experiences: Character Creation, the Story Trial, and the Doshaguma Hunt. Character customization in the beta mirrors the full game, allowing you to design your hunter and Palico, with all customizations transferring to the final release. Note that story progress won't carry over, so feel free to explore without worry. In the Story Trial, you'll navigate through the game's opening sequence, including a tutorial and a battle against the early-game monster, Chatacabra. For a more intense challenge, the Doshaguma Hunt pits you against the alpha Doshaguma, a formidable beast roaming the Windward Plains. This quest supports multiplayer, so you can team up with friends or join forces with NPC support hunters.
As a token of appreciation for participating, all open beta players will receive exclusive in-game rewards, including a Palico-shaped pendant for your weapons and Seikret, along with an item pack containing Mega Potions, Rations, and more. These bonuses will be available as downloadable content when the full game launches on February 28, 2025.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ New Trailer Introduces the “Black Flame” and Oilwell Basin Locale
The "Black Flame" trailer introduces the Oilwell Basin, a dynamic locale filled with oil wells that can erupt into flames at any moment. This region is home to new monsters adapted to its harsh conditions, including the Ajarakan, a fanged beast whose shell heats up through friction, and the Brute Wyvern Rompopolo, lurking in the oil slits. The trailer's namesake, the Black Flame, is the apex predator of the Oilwell Basin. Resembling a giant squid, this mysterious creature is feared by the inhabitants of Azuz, the Everforge.
You'll also encounter the people of Azuz, skilled blacksmiths who live near the massive fire forge at the heart of the Oilwell Basin. The trailer hints that exploring their connection to the land and the forge will be key to uncovering deeper mysteries in the full game.
