Monster Hunter Now is introducing an exciting new feature called Monster Outbreaks, currently in a limited testing phase. Niantic aims to gather player feedback before potentially implementing it as a permanent game feature.
When Is the Monster Outbreaks Testing in Monster Hunter Now?
The trial period spans April 26th to 27th, with two one-hour sessions each day. Events will occur simultaneously worldwide on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 10:59 a.m. and again from 3:00 to 3:59 p.m. local time.
Select locations on the map will transform into outbreak zones featuring groups of 8-star Black Diablos. The community challenge requires hunters to collectively defeat 100 of these monsters – not globally, but specifically at each individual outbreak location during its active hour.
Participants must reach Hunter Rank 11 to join. The event exclusively supports in-person cooperative hunts, with the party feature disabled for this test.
Outbreak locations appear on maps with distinctive markers. Tapping these icons reveals detailed information, including a sign-up system where players can coordinate their hunting schedules.
Black Diablos Swarm Event Brings New Challenges
The community tracking system introduces an interesting dynamic. When a group of four hunters defeats one monster, it counts as four toward the 100-kill objective.
Successful completion before time expires doesn't end the event - hunters can continue battling Black Diablos for the remainder of the hour. These outbreak zones exclusively spawn Black Diablos during the event window.
Impressive rewards await successful teams. Upon reaching the 100-monster milestone, participants earn 3 Black Diablos Tailcases, 3 Ridges, 3 Primeshells, 3 Marrows, and 2,000 Zenny. Players who register via the sign-up system can also obtain a special Outbreak Test I Medal.
