How to Get Armadillo Scutes in Minecraft
Armadillos roam in warm biomes and typically spawn in groups of two or three. When approached hastily, they'll roll into a defensive ball, so it's best to approach them slowly and carefully to prevent this reaction.
Look for Armadillos in these biomes:
- Badlands
- Eroded Badlands
- Savanna
- Savanna Plateau
- Windswept Savanna
- Wooded Badlands
There are two primary methods to collect Armadillo Scutes:
1. Watch and Wait
Similar to how Chickens drop Eggs, Armadillos will naturally drop a Scute every 5-10 minutes. This passive method doesn't require any tools, making it easy but time-consuming, especially if you're aiming to craft multiple sets of Wolf Armor.
2. Brushing
The more popular method involves using a Brush, which can be crafted using a Feather, a Copper Ingot, and a Stick arranged vertically in the center of the Crafting Table. This tool is not only used for investigating suspicious sand or gravel but also for gently brushing Armadillos to collect one Scute per brush.
In the Java Edition, an unenchanted Brush can be used on an Armadillo four times before breaking, while in the Bedrock Edition, it can be used five times. Brushes can be repaired by combining two damaged ones, and Enchanted Brushes can be combined in an Anvil to retain enchantments. Available enchantments for Brushes include Unbreaking, Mending, and Curse of Vanishing.
To brush an Armadillo, approach them slowly to avoid triggering their defensive roll, then use the appropriate button to brush them. With multiple Brushes, you can gather a significant number of Scutes, ready for crafting Wolf Armor.
Once you've collected the necessary six Scutes, you can craft a suit of Wolf Armor at a Crafting Table.
