Nearly ten years after its first announcement, Nintendo is finally releasing Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for Switch and Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.
The big reveal came during today's Nintendo Direct, putting an end to months of speculation about the game's status. Fans had grown anxious after seeing no updates since the Switch 2's April unveiling, leading to rumors of potential delays or development challenges.
The gameplay preview showcased Samus exploring expansive open-world environments aboard a sleek motorcycle-style vehicle.
Metroid Prime 4's journey has been nothing short of remarkable. As the highly anticipated sequel to 2007's Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (originally released for Wii), this next chapter in the first-person adventure series has kept fans waiting.
Originally developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Nintendo later restarted development with Retro Studios (creators of the Metroid Prime trilogy) after two years. Following years of silence, the game reappeared in 2024 before being confirmed as cross-generation title.
