Metaphor: ReFantazio Releases New Update for January 2025

Metaphor: ReFantazio receives Update 1.11, enhancing menu navigation and addressing PC-specific bugs. This follows the game's incredibly successful launch in October 2024, achieving record-breaking sales and critical acclaim, solidifying its place as a top RPG.

Initially unveiled in 2016 as Project Re:Fantasy, Metaphor: ReFantazio's debut saw one million units sold globally on its first day, a milestone achievement for Atlus. The game, which follows a young boy's quest to become King of Euchronia, has garnered numerous Game of the Year awards and a perfect 100 score on OpenCritic.

Update 1.11 streamlines gameplay by introducing improved menu navigation across all platforms. Players can now adjust battle formations and swap party members from both the main menu and the equipment screen. A new jump function on the item screen allows quicker access to specific items. Furthermore, the update includes several bug fixes for the PC version, addressing issues with camera control, frame rate, and controller responsiveness.

Speculation regarding a sequel has intensified due to the game's phenomenal reception. While director Katsura Hashino confirms no concrete plans currently exist, he expresses his hope for a future Metaphor: ReFantazio series, envisioning it alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei as a major JRPG franchise.

With Atlus's success, anticipation for future announcements is high, particularly concerning Persona 6, as 2025 marks the ninth anniversary of Persona 5. Many believe a new Persona entry would capitalize on the studio's current momentum.
