Following the exciting announcement of 26 new cast members for the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. have hinted that more surprises are on the way. During a detailed livestream, Marvel unveiled an extensive list of actors who will be joining Robert Downey Jr. in the superhero epic, marking the start of production as well.

One of the notable returns is Channing Tatum, who will reprise his role as the beloved X-Men character Gambit. Fans can view the complete Avengers: Doomsday cast list here. However, the absence of some key Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) figures like Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Chris Evans' Captain America, and other fan favorites such as the Hulk, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and Rhodey sparked disappointment among the community. On the X-Men front, notable absences include Deadpool, Wolverine, Storm, and Jean Grey.

Despite these omissions, there's still hope for fans. In an Instagram post, Robert Downey Jr., who transitions from Iron Man to Doctor Doom, teased that there's much more in store. He commented, “That’s what u call a deep bench of talent. Actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it.. right?” Marvel responded in the comments with, "there's always room for more," while directors the Russo Brothers added, "It’s time…"

This suggests that Marvel is far from finished with announcing the cast for Avengers: Doomsday. Speculation abounds about who else might join the fray. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Earlier this month, the Russo brothers, co-directors of the film, described Avengers 5 and 6 as a "new beginning" that will set the stage for Phase 7 of the MCU. Joe Russo elaborated on their vision, saying, “The only thing I’ll say about the movie is this: we love villains who think they’re the heroes of their own stories. That’s when they become three-dimensional and they become more interesting. When you have an actor like Robert Downey, you have to create a three-dimensional, well shaped character for the audience. That’s where a lot of our focus is going.”

Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on May 1, 2026, followed by Secret Wars in May 2027. Leading up to these major events, Thunderbolts* will hit theaters in May 2025, the TV series Ironheart in June 2025, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps will kick off Phase 6 in July 2025. Moreover, Marvel Studios has added three untitled movie projects to its 2028 schedule, fueling speculation that one might be an X-Men film, set for release on February 18, May 5, or November 10, 2028.
