Revamped Team-Up Skills
Game Director Guangyun Chen revealed some exciting news in a recent PC Gamer interview (March 14th). Season 2 will introduce brand new team-up skills and revamp existing ones. This, coupled with overall balance adjustments, promises a completely refreshed combat experience.
Currently, Marvel Rivals boasts 17 team-up skills, including favorites like Ragnarok Rebirth (Hela, Loki/Thor), Lunar Force (Cloak & Dagger, Moon Knight), and Allied Agents (Hawkeye, Black Widow). With the expanding roster, balancing these skills will be a significant challenge for NetEase.
Hero Balancing: A Continuous Process
Chen also shed light on the hero balancing process. NetEase meticulously analyzes data from Quick Match and Competitive Modes, focusing on win rates, pick rates, damage dealt and received, and final blows across various ranks and tournaments. This data, combined with analysis of team compositions and community feedback, informs their balancing decisions.
Previously, Chen (Metro interview, January) confirmed the addition of a new hero every half-season. With three-month seasons, that’s eight new heroes per year! This ambitious growth necessitates a robust and adaptable balancing strategy.
He also confirmed that Season 2 content is finalized, with Seasons 3 and 4 currently in intensive development. This reinforces NetEase's commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for the long haul—a ten-year plan and beyond, they've stated!
Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Arrive March 20th
NetEase's official Twitter (X) account announced (March 18th) the arrival of new skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man on March 20th at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21st at 2:00 AM UTC.
Spider-Man's "Spider-Punk 2099" skin features a futuristic digital mask, spiked mohawk, and electric guitar. Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin boasts a steampunk aesthetic with large exhaust pipes and a fiery furnace on his chest. Both skins were previously seen in the game's closed beta. This follows the recent release of Loki's Presidential attire, another beta favorite. Pricing details for the new skins are yet to be revealed.
