Assassin’s Creed Shadows Builds Anticipation
One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata Takes on the Role of Gennojo
Mackenyu, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's One Piece, joins the cast of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft's highly anticipated addition to its flagship RPG series. He will provide both the Japanese and English voice acting for Gennojo, a pivotal character players will encounter in the feudal Japan setting. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a key figure who "helps the protagonist track and eliminate a crucial target."
Ubisoft further elaborates on Gennojo's personality: "Gennojo is a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted figure, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He’s a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, always walking the line with a mix of wit, deceit, and swagger. Motivated by a deep desire to bring down a corrupt system, Gennojo is willing to risk everything, even his own life, to achieve his goal. Despite his rough exterior, he holds a strong sense of justice, especially when it comes to helping the poor and elderly."
While the precise point of Gennojo's introduction remains undisclosed, his importance to the game's missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu, Gennojo is a member of a group known as the "Shinobi League," and players can essentially "recruit" him as a companion throughout their journey.
