Remember the excitement when Pokémon Go first hit the streets, with players everywhere chasing Pikachus and exploring their neighborhoods? While the game may not be the global phenomenon it once was, it still boasts millions of dedicated fans. This passion was evident at the recent Pokémon Go Fest in Madrid, Spain, which we previously covered. Attendees roamed the city, hunting for rare Pokémon, connecting with fellow enthusiasts, and celebrating their shared love for the game. But for some, the event was about more than just catching Pokémon—it was a backdrop for romance.
At Pokémon Go Fest Madrid, love was indeed in the air. Five couples seized the moment to propose, each going on camera to ask that life-changing question. And to the delight of onlookers, all five proposals were met with a resounding "Yes!"
One such couple, Martina and Shaun, shared their special moment with the world. "It was just the right time. After 8 years of relationship, the last 6 of them being long-distance, we have finally managed to settle in the same place. We have just started living together and this is the best way of celebrating the start of our new life," Martina joyfully explained after proposing to Shaun at the event.
The festival, held last month, was a smashing success, attracting over 190,000 attendees. While this number might not match the crowds drawn by major football events, it's still a significant turnout for a gaming event.
Niantic, the game's developer, added a special touch by offering a unique package for those proposing at the event. This initiative likely encouraged more proposals than those recorded on camera, suggesting that Pokémon Go has played a role in bringing many couples together.
