Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has officially launched version 1.0! This release incorporates extensive player feedback and bug fixes, delivering a revitalized experience for both veteran and new players.
This major update introduces a significant gameplay element: oil rigs scattered across the archipelago. Players can now extract oil, process it into fuel, and engage in intense combat against LRI mercenaries guarding these vital supply lines. Adding to the excitement are new dynamic events, including helicopter crashes offering valuable tactical gear, and an underground arena providing hourly opportunities for rewarding battles.
The game world is now more vibrant and diverse, featuring newly added wildlife such as lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats – all tamable and rideable! A wealth of new items has also been added, including beneficial hats, advanced combat vests, an expanded weapons arsenal, explosives, new kitchen recipes, and interactive building/decorating objects like oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Weapon balance has also received considerable attention and adjustments.
Future plans are already underway, with the upcoming 1.1 update promising farming mechanics, an improved tutorial, apartment rentals, and the ability to create shared communities. Furthermore, Longvinter's expansion beyond PC is confirmed, with a PlayStation release slated for 2026.
