Jason Momoa is gearing up to bring the iconic DC character Lobo to life in the highly anticipated 2026 film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Known for his role as Aquaman in the previous DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Momoa is now set to join the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) with a character he has always dreamed of portraying. Lobo, the alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, boasts superhuman strength and immortality, making him a formidable presence in the DC Universe. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983 and is the last survivor of his destroyed world, akin to Superman's origin.

Momoa has expressed his enthusiasm for the role, highlighting the aesthetic similarities between himself and Lobo. In an interview with ScreenRant, he teased fans about what to expect, mentioning his nervousness and excitement about bringing the character to the screen. "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa shared. "That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

While fans are eager to see Momoa's take on Lobo, the actor clarified that his appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be brief, as the film primarily focuses on Supergirl's story. "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit," he added.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first glimpse of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, though it was a minimal reveal. Gunn announced on Bluesky that filming had commenced for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl from House of the Dragon. The film draws heavily from the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, which follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll seeking revenge for her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, with the help of Supergirl.

The cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother. Scheduled for release in June 2026, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second film in the new DCU, following James Gunn's Superman hitting theaters this summer. The DCU will continue with a Clayface movie set for September 2026.
