Ingenious Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Are Using Deadly Bouncing Blades to Kill Hapless Campers From Outside the Map

Author : Isaac Mar 21,2025

In the cutthroat world of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 competitive multiplayer, countless final kills are captured and shared online. But few are as spectacular as this one.

The Ricochet Blades, unique ammo for the D1.3 Sector secondary weapon (introduced with the infamous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event), quickly became a hot topic. Their unpredictable, bouncing trajectory makes them both fascinating and frustrating.

Player kev99gh achieved viral fame with a hardcore Search and Destroy final kill on the Lowtown map. The clip shows a Ricochet Blade—affectionately dubbed a "pizza" by the community—bouncing out of the map, then miraculously back in, securing a one-hit kill on an unsuspecting enemy peeking from a window.

kev99gh's incredible feat is arguably the longest Ricochet Blade kill ever recorded, thanks to its extraterrestrial bounce. The video shows kev99gh lining up the shot, releasing the blade into the void, then switching to the overhead map to track its improbable journey. The blade follows the map's edge before arcing back towards the window for the kill.

Such elaborate trick shots aren't just luck. Redditor SpawnTubing, who shared kev99gh's clip, explains that skilled players "look for and practice common camping spots." Commenters also highlight the impeccable timing—the enemy player peeking precisely as the "pizza" flew through the window is pure Black Ops 6 serendipity. We've all been there.

The Ricochet Blades have ignited a bounce-kill meta, with numerous (though less impressive) kills surfacing online. Some, like the example below, involve multiple bounces before finding their target.

However, not everyone is thrilled. Many players find the bouncing blades frustrating and annoying. These critics will be displeased to hear that developer Treyarch recently buffed the Ricochet Blades via an update, boosting their one-hit kill potential. The relevant patch notes are as follows:

D1.3 Sector

Our initial design for the D1.3 Sector Ricochet Blades revolved around quickly launching many high-speed blades, meant to perform best blind firing into enclosed spaces. We have been following your feedback and agree that, in practice, the use cases for this ammo type are too low. The Ricochet Blades will now do 100 damage to enable one-hit kills, and to compensate we are lowering the fire rate and projectile speed. We think the popularity of this ammo type will see some new interest with these changes and look forward to seeing more of your cross-map killcams in MP.

Ricochet Blades

  • Increased damage from 75 to 100.
  • Decreased rate of fire.
  • Decreased projectile velocity.
  • Improved bouncing speeds and physics.

With Season 3 and Verdansk's return to Warzone on the horizon, the reign of the Ricochet Blades looks set to continue—and intensify.
