Helldivers 2 now features playable maps on Super Earth itself, thanks to the major "Heart of Democracy" update.
As rumored last week, the Heart of Democracy update—available now on PC and PlayStation 5—marks the Illuminate invasion's arrival at our homeworld. Players can now select missions within Mega Cities on Super Earth and join the fight alongside SEAF soldiers.
These new urban environments feature operations focused on liberating the cities, which developer Arrowhead states will have "a significant impact on planetary campaigns." This content integrates directly into Helldivers 2's ongoing Galactic War, the community-driven meta-narrative orchestrated by the studio.
The Illuminate have reached the Heart of Democracy.

Here are the official details from the PlayStation Blog:
Helldivers have a new critical objective: push back the Illuminate invasion by seizing control of areas where the alien fleet is landing. This won't be easy, divers. Expect a fierce, intergalactic tug-of-war where control of sectors can change rapidly against the relentless enemy advance.
As shown in the launch trailer, players can now activate Planetary Defense Cannons to target and destroy the Illuminate fleet. Furthermore, SEAF troopers will actively assist in defending the cities. These autonomous squads can engage enemies independently or be commanded to follow your Hellpod, providing temporary fire support as you complete objectives. Remember to be cautious of civilians still in the streets; managing friendly fire remains as crucial as eliminating the alien threat.
The Heart of Democracy update underscores Arrowhead's long-term commitment to supporting Helldivers 2 for the foreseeable future, following its record-breaking launch last year.
This follows recent comments from Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani, who addressed player concerns about the studio shifting focus to its next project, known internally as "Game 6."
"Not a chance. Right now, it's ALL about Helldivers 2," he stated firmly. "A tiny team will begin preliminary work on something else later this year, but progress will be very slow. Helldivers is our primary focus and will remain so for a very long time."
So, how long can players expect this stream of new content to continue?
"As long as the community keeps playing and purchasing Super Credits, we can keep the updates coming," Jorjani explained, referencing the in-game currency used for Premium Warbonds. "Last summer, we faced some challenges that threatened our long-term plans, but we've successfully corrected course. Thanks to your tremendous support, the future looks bright."
