Navigating the expansive, synthwave-inspired world of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can feel daunting and slow-paced without the right tools. Fortunately, you have immediate access to a game-changing feature from the start: the Hyper Light Breaker Hoverboard. This device isn't just a fun way to get around; it's essential for speeding through the vast landscapes while your Energy depletes slowly. This guide will walk you through how to summon and use your Hoverboard, as well as highlight its unique attributes and special uses.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
To activate your Hoverboard and sprint across the Overgrowth, all you need to do is hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge button.
Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick, you can lean and turn in the desired direction. Note that at top speeds, turning becomes slower, but it's much more manageable at lower speeds.
To dismount the Hoverboard, simply release the Dodge input. Additionally, the Hoverboard will automatically disappear if your Energy runs out during use.
Keep an eye on your Energy level, displayed next to your Breaker's companion while on the Hoverboard (or using the Glider). If your Energy gets low, take a moment to hop off and allow it to recharge, preventing an unexpected dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While you can't perform tricks or attack while riding the Hoverboard, Hyper Light Breaker enhances its utility with several key features. One notable attribute is its ability to float on water, allowing you to traverse inlets and rivers that you'd otherwise have to circumvent.
Remember, you can't summon the Hoverboard while submerged; you must be on it before entering the water. Regardless of your entry speed or height, the Hoverboard will automatically adjust to keep you afloat.
Another useful feature is the ability to duck and prepare for a jump by holding down the Jump input while on the Hoverboard. Although you can't double-jump, the increased speed can help you cover greater distances and navigate challenging gaps. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it aids in timing those tricky jumps accurately.
