NetEase's post-apocalyptic survival game, Once Human, has made a strong initial showing on Steam, reaching a peak concurrent player count of 230,000. This impressive launch also secured the game a seventh-place ranking among top sellers and fifth place on the most-played list. Further updates, including a PvP mode pitting the Mayflies and Rosetta factions against each other, and a new PvE area in a northern mountain region with fresh enemies, are on the horizon. Set in a world ravaged by a catastrophic event leading to supernatural occurrences, Once Human is one of NetEase's most anticipated titles.

Interestingly, despite the successful PC launch, NetEase has delayed the mobile release, originally slated for September. While the game's Steam performance is noteworthy, the 230,000 peak player count represents a high point; average player numbers may be lower. This initial drop-off, particularly considering the game's pre-release Steam wishlist count of over 300,000, could indicate potential challenges ahead.

Once Human Steam Performance

NetEase, known for its mobile game dominance, is clearly making a significant push into the PC market. Once Human, with its impressive visuals and gameplay, represents a bold step. However, shifting the primary audience from mobile to PC might prove a steeper challenge than anticipated.

The mobile release of Once Human remains highly anticipated, regardless of the delay. In the meantime, explore our list of the best mobile games of 2024 (so far) for some compelling alternatives.
