Harrison Ford Doesn't Care That Indiana Jones 5 Flopped, and Joined Marvel For a 'Good Time'

Harrison Ford remains unfazed by the critical and commercial underperformance of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," simply stating, "s**t happens." He attributes his subsequent involvement with Marvel to a desire for a "good time."

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, the Star Wars icon explained that despite his belief in the potential for another Indiana Jones story, he's unconcerned about the film's negative reception and estimated $100 million loss. He clarified his motivation, stating, "When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of his life, I wanted one more chance to dust him off and see what happened. I’m still happy I made that movie."

This experience hasn't deterred him from joining another major franchise. Ford's MCU debut in "Captain America: Brave New World" sees him taking over the role of Thaddeus Ross from the late William Hurt, a character significantly expanded to include his Red Hulk persona.

Ford joined the MCU before knowing about this transformation, having not even seen a script for "Brave New World." His decision stemmed from a sense of enjoyment: "Why not? I saw enough Marvel films to see actors I admired having a good time," he said. "I didn’t really know I’d turn into the Red Hulk. It’s like life; you only get so far until the instructions are incomplete."

"Captain America: Brave New World," slated for release on February 14th, is one of the shortest MCU films to date. It marks Anthony Mackie's debut as Captain America, replacing Chris Evans, and introduces several lesser-known characters from Marvel comics, including a significant payoff to a plot point introduced in "The Incredible Hulk" with the arrival of The Leader.
