Guild Wars 2's upcoming Janthir Wilds expansion will include Homesteads, a highly anticipated player housing feature. Offering a unique approach to player housing, Homesteads will provide players with a fully customizable, instanced space free from the usual MMO housing hassles of auctions, plots, and evictions.
A sneak peek reveals over 300 placeable decorations at launch, with plans for 500 more before the expansion's conclusion. Players will enjoy complete freedom in placement, utilizing X, Y, and Z axis control to arrange items however they see fit.

Key Homestead features include:
- Instanced Housing: No competition for plots or risk of eviction. Unlocked early in the Janthir Wilds storyline.
- Customization: Unrestricted placement of decorations, allowing for creative freedom.
- Extensive Decorations: Hundreds of decorations available at launch, with many more planned.
- Resource Gathering: Daily resource nodes in the form of a mine, logging camp, and farm.
- Mount and Alt Display: Park mounts, skiffs, and even logged-out characters within the instance. Alts receive a resting buff.
- Cosmetic Showcase: Armor and weapon racks for displaying prized equipment and outfits.
Decorations will be acquired through various means, including a new crafting system in Janthir Wilds, participation in Guild Wars 2 holiday events, and the in-game cash shop. The ability to display favorite cosmetic items, including mounts and outfits, solidifies Homesteads as a compelling addition to the Guild Wars 2 experience. ArenaNet's claim of creating the "most player-friendly housing system in an MMORPG" seems increasingly accurate. The Janthir Wilds expansion, including Homesteads, launches August 20th.
