The excitement around the new GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. While we wait, let's take a nostalgic trip through the incredible catalog of Rockstar games and rank them for fun.
Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 games, including iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which of these gems shines the brightest? Note that this list focuses solely on games developed by Rockstar, excluding titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2, which they published. I've created an IGN Tier List based on my personal enjoyment of these games over the years. Here's how I ranked them:
Red Dead Redemption 2 easily claims the top spot in my S-tier; it's my all-time favorite game. Joining it in the S-tier are its predecessor and GTA 5, both of which revolutionized the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special fondness for Max Payne 3 and its mesmerizing bullet time mechanics, not to mention GTA San Andreas, which I played at an age far too young. At the bottom of the list in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, titles that are, frankly, universally unappealing.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you believe Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the entire IGN community.
