Nintendo fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of a new GameCube controller, hinted at in recent Nintendo filings. The controller, potentially designed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, is believed to be a wireless Bluetooth model. This speculation stems from an FCC filing that showcases a label location on the controller, strikingly similar to the back of a GameCube controller, right behind the C-Stick.

While some speculate this could be a new version of the Switch Pro Controller, the prevailing theory is that it will be used with Nintendo's Switch Online subscription service. This service already offers wireless classic controllers for retro gaming, which aligns well with the idea of adding GameCube games to the lineup. Nintendo fans have been eagerly awaiting the inclusion of GameCube classics on the Switch, and with the Switch 2 on the horizon, this could finally become a reality.

The Nintendo Switch 2, unveiled earlier in January, promises backward compatibility and an additional USB-C port. While many details such as the new games and the function of a mysterious new Joy-Con button remain under wraps, there's been significant interest in theories like the Joy-Con mouse functionality. Additionally, a recent patent hinted at the possibility of attaching Joy-Con controllers upside down, utilizing magnets instead of the rails found on the original Switch. This change could offer players more flexibility with button placement and potentially introduce innovative gameplay mechanics.

Analysts estimate the Switch 2 will be priced between $400 and $500, with a possible release in June. Nintendo plans to reveal more about the console during a Direct on April 2. While we await further details, fans can enjoy a taste of GameCube nostalgia with the Metroid Prime Remastered, available on the current Nintendo Switch.
