How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered
To upgrade weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, you need to progress through the main storyline until you achieve Level 002 Code Clearance. At this point, CODE 2 Sinners unlock the Facility Management Function through the Personal Responsibility Portal. Within the Weapon Development Facility, you can manage and upgrade all your weapons. This process requires specific resources and your Entitlement Points, but you can reduce these costs by collaborating with a Citizen. Various Citizens offer different reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude, making the system user-friendly once you get the hang of it.
Before finalizing an upgrade, you'll be shown a preview of the stat changes your weapon will undergo. The Weapon Development Facility also enables you to add Elements and experiment with Modules and Module Slots. To elevate a weapon to a higher Grade, you must purchase the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.
Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?
During the initial phases of the main storyline, missions tend not to yield high-Grade weapons as rewards. While you can buy weapons and other combat items from Zakka in The Warren, these are mostly limited to Grade Level 1, making weapon upgrades nearly indispensable. One of your CODE 3 Exams requires obtaining higher Grade Development Facility Permits, which allow you to upgrade any weapon to your preference and retain it, while donating lower-Grade weapons found during missions to reduce your sentence and earn additional Entitlement Points.
The first upgrade in the Weapon Development Facility also unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with further achievements linked to the upgrading system, making it particularly attractive for trophy hunters. The significant damage difference between weapons of different Grades underscores the importance of dedicating time to gear improvement.
Additionally, players can later access the Ability Development Facility within Facility Management, which becomes available further into the game.
