Fortnite Switch 2 Technical Specs Revealed: 60FPS, Boosted Resolution, Mouse Controls

Epic Games has outlined the technical specifications for the upcoming version of Fortnite on Nintendo Switch 2, confirming that mouse support will arrive in a forthcoming patch.

As anticipated, this updated edition of the popular battle royale delivers a smoother frame rate (60FPS) and enhanced resolution—2176x1224 when docked, 1600x900 in handheld mode.

The new Nintendo console also supports extended draw distances, enabling more precise long-range shots, along with improved clothing physics, higher-resolution textures, and refined shadows and water rendering.

PlayReplays—unavailable on the original Switch version—will now be accessible, letting you review every kill and identify the player who took you down. The original Save the World mode, however, remains unavailable, as it has never been offered on Nintendo platforms.

The next major Fortnite update, version 37.00, will introduce mouse controls when it launches this Saturday, June 7. By default, your mouse will replace the right analog stick, allowing you to aim using the Joy-Con 2’s optical sensor.

Mouse support will be enabled across all core Fortnite modes: Battle Royale, Zero Build, Team Rumble, Reload, Reload - Zero Build, Fortnite OG, and Fortnite OG Zero Build. You’ll also be able to navigate menus with a mouse.

You can’t go on an air ride with it, but it’s the next best thing." A clever nod to Kirby! Perhaps one day Nintendo characters will join the fray in full.

Fortnite is now live on Switch 2 as the console rolls out globally. Right now, the game is in the final stretch of its Star Wars-themed Galactic Battle season, culminating this Saturday with a special one-time live event where players can infiltrate the Death Star.

It’s been a packed week for Epic Games, with recent discussions around AI’s role in Unreal Engine and Fortnite following the launch of the highly interactive AI-powered Darth Vader. We’ve also heard from Epic and CD Projekt Red, developer of The Witcher 4, about that striking Witcher 4 demo—and whether the final game will match its visual promise.
