While some U.S. Apple users might face challenges finding Fortnite directly through the App Store's search function at the moment, Epic Games assures that this issue will be resolved "soon." In the interim, you can access its revived store page by clicking here. Meanwhile, players in the E.U. can now enjoy Fortnite by downloading it from the Epic Games Store or AltStore.
The return of Fortnite to iOS devices marks the conclusion of a tumultuous chapter in the saga between Epic Games and Apple. The conflict began in August 2020 when both Google and Apple removed Fortnite from their digital stores following Epic's update that reduced the price of V-Bucks and introduced a direct payment system. Epic cited the "exorbitant" fees charged by Apple and Google as the reason for their action.
The ensuing legal battle, which prevented Fortnite from being available on official storefronts, lasted for years. However, in April, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced that Fortnite would make a comeback on the iOS App Store in early May, following a ruling by a U.S. Federal District Court in California. A last-minute hiccup involving continued resistance from Apple delayed the return, but now, after five long years, Fortnite is once again accessible on iOS devices.
Players downloading Fortnite on their Apple devices can now choose to buy V-Bucks either through the Epic Games Store or via in-app purchases. For instance, those opting for the 2,800 V-Bucks pack at $22.99 can send their payment directly to Epic, receiving a 20% rebate—$4.60—to use on other Epic offerings.
