Firaxis Games has unveiled a virtual reality adaptation of the recently released Civilization VII.
Sid Meier's Civilization VII - VR marks the franchise's first venture into VR, launching Spring 2025 exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets. Developed by PlaySide Studios (known for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Meta Horizon Worlds), the game will be published by 2K Games.

Detailed dioramas showcasing achievements are viewable in The Archives, accessible in both VR and mixed reality. Engage in online multiplayer matches with up to three other Meta Quest 3/3S players.
The PC and console versions of Civilization VII, currently available via early access, have received mixed player feedback on Steam, citing UI concerns, limited map variety, and missing features.
Firaxis has addressed this feedback, promising UI improvements, cooperative team play in multiplayer, and expanded map options.
In an interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged negative reviews but expressed confidence in the game's long-term appeal to the "legacy Civ audience," describing its early performance as "very encouraging."
