FromSoftware has thrilled fans by sending out confirmation emails for the upcoming Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test. Announced via their Twitter (X) page on January 30, 2025, the news has sparked excitement among the gaming community, with many expressing their gratitude for being selected to participate in this exclusive playtest.

Those who received their confirmation email can look forward to a follow-up email on February 11, 2025, which will include a unique code to download the Network Test client on their preferred platform, available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The registration period for the test ran from January 10 to January 20, 2025. Unfortunately, those who applied but did not receive an email have no further information on additional test dates.

Elden Ring Nightreign Scalpers and Scammers Already on the Loose

FromSoftware describes the network test as a "preliminary verification test" where selected testers will play a portion of the game before its full launch. The test aims to conduct large-scale network load tests to verify the online systems and assess the server capabilities to handle multiple players simultaneously.

The Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test is scheduled to run from February 14 to February 16, 2025, with participants able to join five 3-hour sessions:

  • Session 1 - February 14th from 3 AM to 6 AM PT
  • Session 2 - February 14th from 7 PM to 10 PM PT
  • Session 3 - February 15th from 11 AM to 2 PM PT
  • Session 4 - February 16th from 3 AM to 6 AM PT
  • Session 5 - February 16th from 7 PM to 10 PM PT

Scammers and Scalpers Already On The Move

Unfortunately, the excitement around the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test has also attracted scammers and scalpers. Reports indicate an ongoing scam on Steam where players receive fraudulent invites to the test. Clicking these invites can lead to malicious pages that hack accounts and spam friend lists with the same invite. FromSoftware has clarified that all official communications regarding the playtest are conducted through their website and social media accounts, warning players to avoid links from other sources.

Additionally, scalpers have already begun listing "confirmed test codes" on various buy-and-sell sites, with prices ranging from $150 to $200, and some even being auctioned off. These listings have appeared despite the codes not being available until February 11, 2025.

Elden Ring Nightreign was first announced at The Game Awards 2024, set to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. While FromSoftware has confirmed a 2025 release window, no specific release date has been announced yet.
