Obtaining the Fever Tonic Recipe:
The recipe resides within Trosky Castle's Surgeon's Workshop. Access is gained through two methods:
- Stealth: Secretly enter the workshop.
- Diplomacy: Persuade the chamberlain to grant access by offering to brew a digestive potion for his stomach ailment. Success hinges on passing skill checks. Failing these checks necessitates stealing food, bribing a guard with the stolen food to leave the kitchen, and then sneaking to the workshop via another route.
If you choose the second method and complete "For Whom the Bell Tolls" objectives up to delivering the horseshoe, speak with Cook Fanka at the forge. Assisting her with a locked chest provides access to the noble's kitchen, where you can interact with the ailing chamberlain.
Regardless of your chosen method, the Surgeon's Workshop contains the physician's journal. Locate and read it to obtain the Fever Tonic recipe.
Brewing the Fever Tonic:
The necessary herbs are already present on the surgeon's station. Follow these steps:
- Pour wine into the cauldron.
- Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
- Lower the heat and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
- Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves using the mortar and pestle.
- Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
- Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
- Obtain a phial from the bottom-left shelf.
- Distill the tonic using the Still.
Multiple attempts might be necessary. Additional herbs are available in the room's chest.
Completing the Quest:
After brewing the Fever Tonic (and optionally, a digestive potion), locate Thomas. If you gained the chamberlain's trust, return with both potions. Otherwise, utilize the noble's kitchen to reach the chapel and find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Speaking with Adele concludes the quest.
