- Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, has opened pre-registration
- You can now sign up for the game on iOS and Android ahead of its release
- Could controversy surrounding the Steam version also impact the mobile release?
Pre-registration is now live for Level Infinite's revival of the iconic Delta Force franchise, which was earlier titled Delta Force: Hawk Ops. Featuring a blend of missions and modes alongside a more tactical approach to gameplay, Delta Force represents Tencent's major entry into the modern military shooter genre, scheduled to launch in late January 2025.
If the Delta Force series doesn't ring a bell, you're not alone. Yet this franchise has been a cornerstone of FPS gaming since before Call of Duty even existed. Inspired by the ironically high-profile special operations unit of the U.S. military, Delta Force emphasized realistic shooter action complete with advanced gadgets and authentic weaponry.
Tencent’s Level Infinite has set out to revive Delta Force with considerable ambition. Its Warfare mode drops players into large-scale combat reminiscent of Battlefield, while Operations ventures into the extraction shooter category. Additionally, a single-player campaign based on the Battle of Mogadishu—drawing heavily from the 2001 film Black Hawk Down—is set to debut in 2025.
Cheaters Never WinDespite high anticipation, Delta Force hasn't been free from controversy. Cheating remains a major challenge in modern shooters, and Tencent appears to be taking a heavy-handed approach where a more targeted solution might be preferable. Although G.T.I. Security, the specialized team tasked with combating cheats, claims to work around the clock, restrictions imposed on certain software and even hardware for the PC version have drawn criticism.
While cheating may be less prevalent on mobile, the issue has already discouraged some players from trying Delta Force. Still, with the mobile version on the horizon and a lower risk of cheating on the platform, the game could still meet expectations.
