Boss fights in *The First Berserker: Khazan* can be challenging, especially if you're not fully prepared for all their phases. The Blade Phantom, a formidable enemy encountered on the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, is no exception. Here’s a detailed guide on how to conquer this spectral adversary.
Phase 1
In the eerie setting of a castle flooded with crimson liquid, you'll face the Blade Phantom. This boss tests your ability to manage stamina and aggression amidst its relentless attacks. Here are the key moves you need to watch out for:
- A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick delayed.
- A three-hit combo with two punches and a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo with flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you must dodge.
Beyond these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing red spikes to appear in front of it. When it wields a spear, prepare for a quick throw followed by a teleporting smash. If it uses a blade, expect a swift six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks allows you to parry or dodge effectively, creating windows to attack and deplete its stamina for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until the boss's health is reduced by about half, triggering the transition to the second phase.
Phase 2
The second phase begins with four claw attacks, followed by a spear throw from above. After the spear lands, avoid the affected area and brace for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a final hammer smash.
In addition to the new claw attacks, the Blade Phantom continues with similar moves, including a spear thrust and follow-up, and four to six swift dual-wielding attacks. It teleports more frequently now, and when wielding the greatsword, be alert for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this, restoring your stamina and opening the boss up for more damage.
Exploit the Blade Phantom's stamina depletion to initiate Brutal Attacks when the window is nearly closed, maximizing damage and easing your path to victory. Upon defeating the boss, you'll earn 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
