The highly anticipated Days Gone Remastered is on the horizon, and Sony's Bend Studio has recently shed light on some of the exciting accessibility features that will be part of this updated version. One of the standout options is the ability to slow down Game Speed during tense moments, a feature detailed by Bend Studio's Creative & Product Lead Kevin McAllister in a new PlayStation Blog post.
McAllister explained that players can adjust the Game Speed from 100% down to 75%, 50%, and even 25%. This feature aims to assist players who may find high-pressure situations challenging, especially when dealing with the game's iconic hordes of Freakers. "Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high-pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers," McAllister noted. He emphasized that with the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, making this unique combat experience more accessible was a priority.
In addition to the Game Speed adjustment, Days Gone Remastered will offer a range of other accessibility options. These include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues. The auto-complete QTE feature, previously exclusive to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these new accessibility features will be available for the PC version of Days Gone. However, some features like feedback and control customization will require a compatible controller.
Announced in February, Days Gone Remastered promises not only enhanced accessibility but also additional features such as an improved photo mode, permadeath, and speedrun options. This remaster of the 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game centered around a biker protagonist is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Players who already own the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 remastered version for just $10.
