CD Projekt Red has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will require 64GB of storage on Nintendo Switch 2. While smaller than Xbox and PS5 versions (100-110GB), this represents a substantial 25% of the Switch 2's confirmed 256GB internal storage capacity.
Scheduled for launch alongside the Switch 2 on June 5, Cyberpunk 2077 will be available as either a physical 64GB game card or digital download via Nintendo eShop. Notably, Nintendo has confirmed some Switch 2 game cards will only contain download keys rather than full games - though this doesn't apply to Cyberpunk 2077.
Storage Challenges Ahead for Switch 2 Owners
While the Switch 2's 256GB internal storage represents a massive upgrade from the original Switch's 32GB, early indicators suggest game file sizes will grow proportionally. Compared to Tears of the Kingdom's 16GB footprint on the original Switch, the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 (64GB) and upcoming titles like Mario Kart World show the new system's demanding storage requirements.
Expandable storage becomes essential, but with a catch: The Switch 2 only supports the newer microSD Express format, rendering existing microSD cards incompatible. This transition means users will need to purchase more expensive high-speed memory cards.

The market for microSD Express cards may expand as more manufacturers enter the space, but whether this leads to price reductions remains uncertain. For complete Switch 2 details, check our coverage of the Nintendo Direct presentation and our preorder guide for the April 9 launch.
