Cursed Objects, or Cursed Possessions, are unique items randomly spawning on each *Phasmophobia* map (depending on game mode and settings). Activation requires locating and engaging with them on-site.

Unlike the standard, beneficial equipment in your van, Cursed Objects provide gameplay advantages—'cheats'—with significant drawbacks. Using their abilities, such as pinpointing the ghost's favorite room or boosting your team, always results in a trade-off. This could mean a rapid sanity drain, temporary blindness, or a surprise "cursed" hunt.

Use Cursed Objects judiciously; sometimes, avoiding them is the wiser choice. Note that they won't appear at all difficulty levels or in Challenge Mode.

Seven Cursed Objects currently exist in *Phasmophobia*, each with unique abilities and debilitating effects.

A common side effect is a substantial sanity reduction for the user. In groups, proximity to the user is risky due to the high probability of an immediate "cursed hunt."

Cursed Hunts mirror regular hunts but ignore your sanity level, even if a regular hunt just concluded. They also last 20 seconds longer, making escape or hiding more challenging depending on difficulty.

The following table details each Cursed Object and its mechanics. This list will be updated with future additions.

Cursed ObjectAbility
Tarot Cards10 random cards offering buffs, debuffs, or increased ghost activity. Certain cards, like "Death," trigger Cursed Hunts.

Music BoxReveals the ghost's location via a special event. Prolonged use triggers a Cursed Hunt.
Summoning CircleSummons and traps the ghost. Always triggers a Cursed Hunt unless a Tier 3 Crucifix is present.

Monkey PawGrants wishes influencing the ghost or environment. Certain wishes severely impair or trap the player.

Best Cursed Objects to Use in Phasmophobia

Choosing the best Cursed Object depends on the situation and your risk tolerance. Availability also depends on game mode and difficulty.

Haunted Mirror

The Haunted Mirror is the safest and most beneficial Cursed Object. It reveals the ghost's favorite room, accelerating evidence gathering. However, prolonged use lowers sanity, and shattering it triggers a Cursed Hunt.

Ouija Board

A reliable option, the Ouija Board reveals the ghost's location through direct questioning. It can also locate the bone, aiding in achieving a "Perfect Investigation."

Voodoo Doll

Useful for triggering ghost interactions and gathering evidence, but avoid the heart pin to prevent a Cursed Hunt.
