In the ever-revolving world of cinematic remakes—or, for the more hopeful among us, the exciting world of Stephen King adaptations—a fresh take on "Cujo" is gearing up to sink its teeth into audiences. According to Deadline, Netflix is set to bring this iconic tale to life once more, with Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee on board as a producer. However, the project is still in its infancy, with no writers, directors, or cast members announced yet.

Originally penned by Stephen King in 1981, "Cujo" was swiftly adapted into a film in 1983 by screenwriters Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner, directed by Lewis Teague. This cult classic horror movie features Dee Wallace as a determined mother fighting to protect her young son from a once-friendly dog turned deadly by rabies. The suspenseful narrative traps the duo in a car with a broken engine, battling both the relentless Cujo and the looming threat of heatstroke.

Oz Perkins' adaptation of King’s short story "The Monkey" hit screens in February, and fans can look forward to more this year, including a new take on "The Running Man" led by Glen Powell and JT Mollner's version of "The Long Walk," both produced by Roy Lee and Vertigo. Additionally, HBO is preparing the "IT" prequel series "Welcome to Derry," and horror maestro Mike Flanagan is bringing "Carrie" to Prime Video as an eight-episode series.

Stephen King enthusiasts are currently enjoying a feast of adaptations, with even more tantalizing projects on the horizon.
