How To Craft Gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Gems are customizable equipment pieces that you can craft in-game—but first, you'll need to unlock the system. Once you join Liu Bei’s Volunteer Army in Chapter 1, visit any Inn, and you’ll receive a letter from Zhang Fei explaining the basics of Gems and their raw material: Pyroxene.
Obtaining Pyroxene
Pyroxene is the core resource used for crafting Gems. You can find it scattered across the overworld in large, glowing crystal-like formations. These spawn randomly, so keep your eyes peeled as you travel between missions. Additionally, you can earn Pyroxene by completing sidequests, collecting Old Coins, or reading letters at Inns—making it relatively easy to accumulate over time.

Crafting Process
Once you’ve gathered enough Pyroxene, return to any Inn to begin crafting. The process is randomized—you select the amount of Pyroxene to use, and the game will convert it into one of several Gem types. Whether you use one or ten, the outcome remains random unless a specific Gem type is highlighted with a white glowing aura in the crafting menu. If such an aura appears, only that Gem type will be crafted during that session.
Gem Enhancement
As you continue to craft the same type of Gem, its effectiveness increases. This allows for gradual improvement in the benefits each Gem provides. Since you can only equip one Gem at a time early in the game, choosing the right one for each battle becomes strategically important.
For example:
- The Wellspring Gem heals a set amount of health for every 100 enemy soldiers defeated—ideal for large-scale battles.
- The Ascendence Gem boosts your chance of automatically blocking officer attacks, making it more suited for duels against high-ranking enemies.
While the initial bonuses may seem minor, they become increasingly impactful as you refine and level up your chosen Gem type.
