Controller-Enhanced PC Gaming Delights

PC gaming is largely synonymous with keyboard and mouse controls, particularly for genres like first-person shooters and strategy games that demand precision. However, some PC games are surprisingly better experienced with a controller. Games emphasizing reflex-based movement or fast-paced melee combat often lend themselves well to gamepad controls. Similarly, genres originating on consoles and later ported to PC frequently maintain a controller-centric feel.

While many PC releases strive for robust keyboard and mouse support, certain titles benefit from the intuitive nature of a controller. This is especially true for franchises that began their lives on consoles.

Recent releases like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Infinity Nikki, Marvel Rivals, Path of Exile 2, and Delta Force generally perform better with keyboard and mouse, though Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered offers a slightly improved experience with a gamepad, the difference being minimal.

Upcoming releases with potential for enhanced controller play include:

  • Freedom Wars Remastered: A PS Vita port akin to Monster Hunter, suggesting controller compatibility.
  • Tales of Graces f Remastered: The Tales series consistently benefits from gamepad use, and this remaster is expected to follow suit.
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Given the similar combat system to its predecessor, a controller is likely preferable on PC.
  • Marvel's Spider-Man 2: As a PS5 port, a controller-first approach is anticipated, although keyboard and mouse may also prove suitable.
