The strategic tower defense game, Code Geass: Lost Stories, is ending its global mobile run. While the Japanese version will continue, the global servers are officially shutting down on August 29th, 2024. This means no more logins, in-app purchases, or access to official social media after that date. Downloads have been disabled as of today.
Developed by f4samurai and DMM Games, and published by Komoe, the game launched globally in September 2023, falling short of its first anniversary. While the developers haven't publicly stated the reasons for closure, low download numbers and generally unfavorable global reviews likely contributed. Many licensed anime gacha games struggle to maintain a substantial player base outside of Japan, where spending tends to be higher.
The game, based on the popular Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime and manga franchise, blends RPG and action elements with tower defense gameplay. Despite its foundation in a well-known franchise and its genre blend, it couldn't achieve sustained global success.
Japanese players can still access the game on the Google Play Store. For more gaming news, check out our other articles!
