Classic DOOM and DOOM 2 have received an update

While awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM games. Good news! A recent update for the DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation has significantly enhanced the experience.

This update boasts improved game stability and more. Crucially, it now supports multiplayer modifications created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative gameplay has been upgraded with shared item pickup and an observer mode for players awaiting revival. Multiplayer network code has also received optimization. Finally, the mod loader now supports more than the initial 100+ subscribed mods.

Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a key focus. The game will offer unprecedented customization options, exceeding those found in previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasizes the game's accessibility, highlighting the ability to adjust demon aggression in the settings.

Players will have extensive control over various aspects, including enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, game pace, aggression levels, and parry timing. Stratton further assures players that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand its narrative, which connects seamlessly with DOOM: Eternal.
