Capcom subtly teased Resident Evil 9 right under fans' noses.
Celebrating an impressive milestone of 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a commemorative video on April 25 featuring Ada Wong exchanging whispers with one of gaming's most notorious villains. The clip then shifts to Leon surrounded by celebratory infected creatures wearing party hats, all moving toward the church.
The scene transitions to Dr. Salvador playing his chainsaw like an electric guitar while Leon pumps his fist in excitement. The backdrop reveals a weathered wooden sign reading "Thank you for playing."

A clever visual trick emerges when rotating the sign—its wooden planks form the Roman numeral "IX," representing the number 9.
While some might dismiss this as coincidence, horror industry insider Dusk Golem noted that earlier scenes deliberately omitted the sign's bottom plank, confirming intentional placement. Fans wasted no time connecting the dots.
"I see what you did there," remarked one observant fan, accompanying their comment with an astonished emoji.
Capcom has officially announced that Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi will helm the next main series installment.
"Determining our direction after Resident Evil 7 proved exceptionally challenging," Nakanishi previously stated. "But we've cracked it—this project carries significant weight. While details remain under wraps, I'm eager for the day we can share more." Rumors suggest—though unconfirmed—the game may unfold on a Singapore-inspired island setting.
